Let's write as Romans did and learning to make a Roman wax tablet

LET'S WRITE AS ROMANS DID

The idea of this workshop is not mine, I have copied it from a workshop we did in Palencia. But I decided to do it in class and it proved to be quite interesting.

This is the process to follow:

1. To make a wooden tablet in the Technology class in advance.

The one on the left is a Romam replica, the one on the right has been made by one student in the Technology classroom.

2. To explain the different supports that Romans used to write:

a) Stone or bronze (for public inscriptions), using the capital letters.

Sonia Mª Rodríguez uses this YouTube video explaining how to make a Roman wax tablet.

Students can recreate how Roman children learnt to write while learning or reviewing Roman numerals by writing on the tablet.
